Meetups

I recently added “Meetups Coordinator” to my list of job titles here at Dribbble. As a team, we’ve spent the last few weeks brainstorming ways to help support and grow our Meetups scene. We’re thrilled to have Shopify on board as our partner and global sponsor in these efforts.

The best partnerships are those that come about by talking to friendly people who happen to work at companies you admire and make products you actually use. Such is the case with Shopify, our friends that make killer software for creating your own online store. We’ve been happily using it to power our own Equipment Shop for years, and it’s made adding physical products to our repertoire dead simple.

Tuesday night, 300 Canadian designers gathered at Strada 241 in Toronto for what was an epic Dribbble × Shopify Meetup. Toronto is one of Dribbble’s largest meetup communities, and they lived up to that title. Custom cupcakes were consumed, 3 design battles were waged, free drinks and food were served, and fun was most definitely had.

An Official Dribbble Meetup at Adobe is happening in San Francisco!

Last week, our friends at Dropbox hosted a big Dribbble meetup at their amazing office in San Francisco. Swag and t-shirts were handed out, arcade hoops tournaments were played, 20 feet of Beef Wellington was served, drinks were drunk, card magic was performed by Tim Silva, and around 200 designers from the Bay Area mingled with the Dropbox design team, as well as Dan and Rich from Dribbble.

Last night, around 50 local Dribbblers came to our headquarters here in Salem, MA for beer, pizza, and chatting with fellow creative folks. It was a great success, and we’d like to thank our sponsor, Shopify, for helping us make the night a great one.

Last week, we hosted the first of what we hope will be many Meetups at Dribbble HQ in Salem, MA. Dribbblers from all over the greater Boston area showed up for beer (thanks for the hook up, High and Mighty!), ping pong and mingling. 

Last Thursday night, Rich and I trekked down to Manhattan to attend a special Dribbble meetup hosted by our friends at Squarespace. When we arrived in SOHO, we quickly realized this wasn’t going to be just another meetup. The folks at Squarespace had designed a team competition: Renting a mini hoop basketball game, using the Dribbble API to assign attendees to color-coded, headbanded teams. Team members’ profiles were displayed along with their shots and projected on the wall.
