Who are you?
I’m a twenty eight year old architect from Poland. I graduated with an Architecture degree from Warsaw University of Technology, and started my own business after graduation. I worked as an architect with my mother and husband and participated in architectural competitions while also working as a freelance illustrator and watercolor artist. Recently I wanted to take my architectural work more seriously, so after 2 months of intensive learning, I passed the exam and obtained the unlimited building design license. However, painting is my passion and I don’t want to give it up, so I am still taking commissions for paintings.
What are you working on?
Recently I found a new source of inspiration: large modern cities. I love creating large panoramas as well as smaller views of cities with contemporary buildings. It’s refreshing for me because I was a little fed up with painting historical buildings! I was looking for a topic that brings me pure happiness while painting, and I’ve found it.
The first painting from the series was a commission for a client who moved from NYC to Hong-Kong. She loved her NYC view from the window so much that she decided to order a painting that depicted that view. The result was wonderful, so I decided to create a second panorama of NYC, and got another commission from London as well. It wasn’t long before Mr. Christopher from the This is Colossal blog approached me and asked if I’m interested in a collaboration, so I made three watercolors that are exclusively available as prints in the Colossal Shop. The originals are available in my shop.
I’m currently intensely researching photos and places that I could use as a reference.

Tell us about your setup. What tools did you use to create the shot (e.g. hardware, software, pens, paper, blowtorch)?

I’m a fan of painting on large paper, so the first panorama was 157x70cm, the next one was 200x50cm, and Chicago, Tokyo and Frankfurt were painted on 100x50cm Fabriano 300g watercolor paper. First I do a sketch with a 5H pencil, then paint. To be honest it’s more like drawing with the brush than painting, but that’s my style. I use White Nights watercolors.
For my 28th birthday I got a GoPro to create speed time-lapse videos of my work. The GoPro is attached to a selfie stick, which is held up by a stack of books. Maybe not 100% professional, but it works. The Go Pro takes a photo every two seconds, then I speed up the footage in iMovie and add music created by my friend Borys Kunkiewicz’s band.

This may seem like a shameless plug, but honestly my favorite works are my husband’s architectural renderings.
