Appcues and Thoughtbot are kicking off the new year right with a Boston Dribbble Meetup. This will be a fun and casual meetup—so RSVP and head over to The Hatch in the Landmark Building on January 27th to hang out, eat, drink, and meet some fellow Boston designers. Rich and Dan will be making the quick trip from Salem to join in the fun too!
In advance of the meetup, Product Designer at Appcues Donald Wilson gave us a tour of Boston’s design scene

What do you love about Boston?
This city is really amazing. I have yet to have had a bad experience in Boston (granted I’ve only lived here for a few weeks and the occasional trip to Quincy market when I was living in Connecticut). It’s got the historic feel of an old town and the hustle of a city. Best of both worlds in my opinion. Plus the design scene is thriving up here!
Tell us where you work.
I work at a humble startup call Appcues (Ahoy!) located in the Landmark building next to Fenway.
Tell us about the Boston design scene.
From my experience the Boston design scene is booming. It’s not only filled with spectacular designers but with other influencers as well. Engineers, developers, and marketers have a huge impact on the tone and direction of the design in this city. I definitely feel like the days of designing amongst only “designers” is gone (how it should be) and it’s awesome!

He’s from the future.. and in color by Amir Hamdi, above left.
Amir is an illustrator at heart, though he may not call himself one. I have known him for a while and still am blown away by the quality of his work. Not too many people get to see his works in progress (sketches everywhere) because most of the time it’s just the finished product. This is a good example of the magic in progress.

I have alway been a fan of Ryan. He has a clean and very thoughtful approach to product design that I have always enjoyed.

What can I say about Corey?! I love his style. It seems like he can just about illustrate anything and I would “L” “L” “L”!
