Who are you?
My name is Katarína Štefániková and I’m an 18-year-old student and graphic designer from a small Slovak city, Martin. I’m interested in design and art in general. I have been designing for more than four years. I specialize in user interfaces, icons and branding. But my beginnings were associated with a passion for 3D design (Cinema 4D, Autodesk Maya), which later changed to interfaces for mobile apps and related stuff with graphic design.
What are you working on?
Now I’m busy with redesigning a mobile app for a smart home gadget. I also have my personal projects on which I’m working all the time – a targeted icon set, a mobile app for drivers, and my long-standing project focused on typography that I hope to finish someday with everything that belongs to it.
Choose a favorite shot of yours. Why is it a favorite?
It could be iOS Tracking app concept, because it was a little crazy, unusual design which is different from the classic tracking app. I want to tell you what inspired me – it was the one and only Tour de France.
Tell us about your setup. What tools did you use to create the shot (e.g. hardware, software, pens, paper, blowtorch)?
When I create logos, icons or sketch ideas for mobile apps, I almost always start with paper and pencil. This helps me to create from scratch (especially for logos and icons). Mostly I use Photoshop/Sketch, Skala Preview, Illustrator; I work less in InDesign. All this software runs on my 27” iMac. Creativity, idea, paper, pencil, computer, software, smartphone – that‘s all I need. When all of this is available, I do some work and then comes Dribbble, where I share something with the community from time to time.
Choose a favorite shot from another Player. Why do you dig it?
One of my favorite shots is this app design by Barthelemy Chalvet from AgenceMe. I fell in love with dark interfaces, but this one inspired me in a good way. It has the right balance between interactions and clean, simple design.
