There are two types of user experience we need to focus on when designing user interfaces. The first one is all about the primary function, it is designed and developed base on the business model of a company. It should include all of the must-have function and experience of a product. The other one is all about the auxiliary functions that help the user to make decisions when using the product.

A trading interface for a financial app can be regarded as a primary function but historical charts are not. A note-taking interface for a memo app can be regarded as a primary function but the interface for changing font color is not.

Every screen exists for a reason. It does not exist to occupy space, it is created to help communicate the right message for the user, helping users to achieve what they need to do. If it doesn't bring users closer to where they need to go, get rid of it.
