Amish Quilt Exploration Part 2: Bear Paw
The inspiration of the Bear Paw pattern is said to have come from the frontier days when bear tracks were commonly found in the snow or mud of wooded farmland. An encounter with wildlife was a daily possibility and is captured in this quilt design. The pattern was borrowed by the Amish community and used by Midwestern Amish quilters.
