Shelves interface on ShelfJoy (+ attachment ๐ผ๏ธ )
The crux of ShelfJoy is shelves, that is curated lists of books in specific topic/category/genre. At first, we validated this idea via our Facebook messenger bot which had decent impressions to begin with. Plus, it has delivered 3,41,942 book recommendations to our users so far. ๐
But the UI of Facebook's messenger bot is restrictive as in the user can only view one book at a time and to load another book, he/she has to tap 1-2 buttons and wait 2~3 seconds to get the next recommended book. This is when we decided to build a web platform so we can deliver a better consumption experience to our users who were keen on exploring more and more books. ๐ฅ
This shot is the finalized variation of shelves among 30+ variations we tried. You can find the full mockup of both web and mobile in the attachments + a quick screenshot of all the variations we tried and some cherrypicked ones too.
