Haas Cabinet

As I wrap up the Ohio Valley region of my Regional Logo Study leading up to the week of fathers day. I can't help but think about the spirit of exploration that my father instilled in me. The willingness to jump out and go somewhere else to see and try new things. So these last two will be dedicated to my pops and a couple of the companies he worked for as a kid. My dad has driven a big rig most of my life except for the years before I was born where he ran oil rigs in Oklahoma. Much of my early life was spent waiting for him to walk through our door on the weekends after week long trips. I know it was hard for us when he was gone so much. This was a time before internet and cell phones, we would get a call every couple of days from a payphone in the drivers lounge at a truck stop from some place like Kalamazoo, Michigan. We knew it's what he had to do to provide for us. And hey! It came with some pretty nice perks by the time I was 16 years old I had seen more of America than most full grown adults from the sleeper bunk of a Kenworth, Freightliner, Peterbilt, International or Western Star rig (I've been in my fair share of rigs). It was like every kids dream and my brother and I had the absolute joy of living that a couple of months a time for many years.

Dad worked for Haas Cabinet hauling their family owned, hand made cabinets from the time I was in fourth grade and he still works there today. I always had a relationship with their logo and overall branding. Big shiny, always washed and waxed all black rigs with black trailers, with just the logo and four thick colored lines that ran along the bottom side of the trailer until it got to the end then it shot up to the top rear. I could spot one of those rigs in a sea of trucks on the interstate (and I still do!) everytime. Still makes me feel some kind of way to just talk about it.
