Occa Solar Light

Product Branding

Oshiwambo is a language spoken by over one million people in Namibia and Angola. "Occa" comes from the Oshiwambo word "Okadhila", which means bird. Birds are often a symbol of hope and freedom. We believe that learning is the key to ultimate freedom. Like a bird without wings, a child without education is prevented from reaching its full potential. Occa solar lights unlock this potential by enabling young people without access to electricity to learn safely after dark, thereby spreading their wings.

The shape of the bird is inspired by the game "Tangram". Like in the game, learners explore unseen possibilities with Occa. A closer look reveals that the shapes are also derived from the formal language of solar panels. The lettering, on the other hand, is less playful. The logo has a functional, variable and simple character.
