Lab equipment onboarding tool for lab technicians

The Lab Onboarding tool is an app for lab managers and technicians customise the way they navigate through various services - ex. requesting technical support, ordering reagents & chemicals or spare parts.

The ultimate goal is to help users to translate this:

... into an intuitive navigation, allowing users to quickly identify the right work area, line and module.

When performing an ethnographic research and IDI sessions on site, we noticed that customers tend to give their instruments a custom names to better navigate within a messy lab environment.

This brought us an idea to enable in-app customisation and give end users freedom of building their work environment.

The final Lab Onboarding has a Trello-ish structure, where user can:

• Create custom work areas

• Create custom instrument lists

• Reorg module's location with drag&drop

• Set custom names for a given module

• Mark instrument as unused and remove it from app navigation

In addition, to make the onboarding experience smoother, the app pre-builts lists and lines based on most frequent setups and module's data - so that the user doesn't need to build everything from scratch.

The UI is built with a company's Design System, which is a customised version of Angular Material library.
