05 | Robyn — Honey
8 years... 8 fucking years we had to wait to get this beautiful record. My love for Robyn started late, I must admit. I met her music precisely with the ancestor of this album, Body Talk, and even tho she has been producing music for just over two decades now, I can say that she-s the living example that a true artist is capable of reinventing himself and create sounds with the ability to evolve and adapt to the different trends —which are not bad at all, since they mark eras and are a good source of inspiration— that the market demands. However, Honey is a slap in the face for anyone who believes that it is not possible to adapt to a modern era, maintaining features and essence present in the beginning… precisely because this album shows the opposite. In the production, Robyn experimented with new sounds, some more inusual than the ones I was used to hearing from her, to mix them with the classic disco and house beats that have characterized so much her work. It’s a fresh album with a cosmic atmosphere that takes us away from the naive Robyn of "Call Your Girlfriend" or "Dancing On My Own", to introduce us to a more mature and self-confident version of her. That's GROWTH.
