KaiOS Guidelines Vol. 2

What do you call a smartphone form 2015?

Vintage? In need of an upgrade? Dumb as a brick?
Well, millions of people all over the world still call those “a luxury.” They struck out on the privilege lottery and ended up stuck in regions that haven’t caught up with the modern world. No instant messaging, no video calls, no “online.” Period.
Enter KaiOS and their “feature phone.”

The good people of KaiOS are developing a mobile OS that will ensure that everyone has the mobile essentials needed to utilize the benefits of modern communication; thus, helping people in technologically lacking regions advance their societies.

Our collaboration with KaiOS started back in 2018, intensified quickly, and resulted in a series of successful projects over the following 2 years (we can’t talk about those yet).

What we can talk about is what you’re looking at here: the brand guidelines that we’ve created for KaiOS, albeit some time ago. Nevertheless, they still serve as a visual rulebook for KaiOS’ partners – especially phone manufacturers and app developers (‘s up Google!); as well as for marketing campaigns and upcoming events.

Before we let you look at all the pretty pictures we’ve made for you, we’d like to add that, by working closely with KaiOS, we gained immense insight into a whole new world of different user mindsets and user needs – something so rare, that we just didn’t have the opportunity to encounter it before.

KaiOS is introducing a new way of life to those who need it the most, and we’re proud to be a part of that. They’ll probably introduce them to battery anxiety as well – but hey, that’s a side-effect that we all live with, right?

RIGHT?
