Biography
Marcie LaCerte is a Chinese-American animator and art director based in NYC. She is currently in production on an animated short film produced through the Creative Culture Fellowship at the Jacob Burns Film Center.
She works as a motion graphics designer, and her clients include Vox, PBS, NPR, and Quartz. Her films have been recognized by Vimeo Staff Picks, Ottawa International Animation Festival, GLAS, AFI Docs, and more. She has given talks at the CalArts Experimental Animation program, the Living Room Light Exchange (New York), and the Light Grey Art Lab Residency.
She is interested in making personal films that use humor, surrealism, and metaphor to explore themes of alienation and identity. Her work combines analog and digital techniques, and she enjoys experimenting with collage and stop motion. Beyond film, she is interested in interactive storytelling and multimedia art. In her free time, she enjoys thrift shopping, listening to podcasts, and talking about Shrek.
