Sanne van Steensel

Hi, I’m Sanne, my parents are from the Netherlands but I was born here in New Zealand. My parents studied soil and found life. I believe my upbringing has lead to a fascination with nature and her resilance.
Plants, animals, and birds in particular appear in my work but also bugs as they are all part of the ecology. In my earlier years I was interested in landscapes but I have since zoomed in and back out again when I discovered the Flower of Life and sacred geometry. I found nature in patterns and details, the macrocosm, and then the microcosm. Concepts like duality and wholeness also. I then started creating my work in the living world in the form of my own herb garden.
