Charmaine Samakande

A Zimbabwean illustrator, photographer and writer currently based in New York City, I graduated from Montclair State University with a Degree in English Literature and Studio Art, and after working in various fields, I achieved a certification in Graphic Design and Illustration from Parsons New School.

I have a passion for illustration particularly in children’s literature, and in order to develop my skills, I practice through drawing my friends and family, or causes and people dear to my heart. Furthermore, I tends to work digitally and is intrigued by both vibrant bold colors, and abstractions, with elements in her work portraying blissful and childlike characteristics.
