Time lapse: Bridges
I was browsing through Instagram when I saw a quote on someone’s story that said: “May the bridges I burn light the way.”
It sparked my interest because I was familiar with “Don’t burn your bridges behind you.”*
What got me interested was the self-assurance in the tone of that quote. Yes, it has a tinge of destructiveness to it. But what sparked my creativity was the self-assurance in “never looking back”, in “cutting off”—in making sure that whatever she left is way behind her. There she is warm in her poncho, smoking a cigarette watching what was behind her be burned away in the past.
*For those who are unfamiliar with that term, it implies not cutting connections out of spite or malice because you might encounter or need to “cross that bridge” again in the future.
