Rating System
We were talking here a lot about different rating systems and how we can improve our system. The "naked" 5 Star Rating has been useless for us, most of the ratings were between 4-5 Stars and doesnt give the user a good differentiation. Rottentomatoes has a 5 Star Rating, but shows the Rating basically as a 2 Star Rating (How many rated the movie with 3.5 or more Stars) in combination with a Percent Rating.
Amazon has a 5 Star Rating, because it wants that people to buy stuff where as Rotten Tomatoes doesnt want you to watch "bad movies" and forces you almost only to watch the +90% Rated, but most of the movies are much lower rated. Where Rating influences your sale it will always tend to positive Ratings, but with little space for "negative" Rating.
What we want is that most of our chefs are rather "Met Expectations" rated and only exceptional experiences are rated with Exceeded Expectations. Its a mix of Ebay (3 Star Rating), Steepster (Smileys) and and very clear copy.
In the next version I will show how we display ratings which is completely
different.
