Interactive fiction game UI
This was a quick project for a game jam that a couple of friends and I worked on. It's an entirely text-based adventure (on mobile) that plays off of the theme of the game jam: "Repair". The idea is that you make difficult choices about what to repair during the story. You get to choose between repairing a physical object (your bike), an emotional relationship (with your friend), and your own sleep schedule (that's terribly out of whack).
The progress on the repair state of each of these is displayed on the bottom, and the phase of day is represented at the top of the screen. The main UI is dominated by the text prompts and your own responses to the scene. We added lots of animations to the text to make it feel lively and dynamic, with individual letters appearing sequentially and the responses smoothly cross-fading in to the view.
Overall, this was a fun project to work on! We did a lot of work in a short couple of days, including coming up with the entire branching dialogue system and all the narrative paths based on all the possible choices. It was my first time tackling something like that and it was an incredibly fun design challenge to tackle and solve.
