Introducing the Drift ⚡desktop app

Earlier this week, we launched a beta version of the Drift desktop app for macOS and Windows! This greatly simplifies the live chat experience in Drift and allows salespeople to respond to leads on their site even faster. We've built tons of cool little features like slash commands for speedy workflows, message animations, and better state management.

After having worked on the Drift web app for a long time, it was fun to bring it all to the desktop. Slack was our design role model through the whole process, as they've achieved a great bar for simplicity and elegance despite having a product loaded with features. A dark sidebar on the left and a detail view on the right would always be visible, ensuring that users never lose their own conversations. This design constraint helped immensely in making decisions on how to plan and prioritize new features into the view.
