Indonesia is a country that has various cultures especially traditional handicrafts. Batik is one of the Indonesian traditional handicrafts that has been recognized by UNESCO as a Masterpiece of Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity. But some of these handicrafts face extinction because of young people’s ignorance about their own handicrafts cultures. This is proved by the ignorance of young people about their own cultures and also their western lifestyle. On the other hand, social media is now being the largest information center accompanied by powerful smartphone development. According to data from We Are Social, 5. 112 billion out of 7. 676 billion world population are smartphone users and social media users on smartphone have reached 3.256 billion in 2019. From these problems, we found an idea to introduce Indonesian Cultures to the world through mobile application called “YouKnow”. “YouKnow”is social media application that mainly disscusses about Indonesian traditional handicrafts and allows the users to post their artworks. Beside, “YouKnow” allows the users to do a discussion in a forum about Indonesian traditional handicrafts and personally send messages to the other users. The targets of this application are traditional craftsmen, local handicrafts communities, Indonesian people and global community. “YouKnow” application is supposed to be able to introduce Indonesian cultures to the world and make improvement to Indonesian economy.
