Twitter URL Shortening Interaction

I am a huge fan of the new Mac Twitter app, but one gotcha that I saw and some people are complaining about is the URL shortening process and the fact that there is no feedback of the URL actually being shortened. People are left trying to do a quick calculation in there head or just don't notice it. The mental model can not be contrived and feedback is currently absent.

So I put this bad boy together real fast (well not fast because I hate making animated gifs). The animation of progress is a little choppy but whatever you get the point.
