Where Adventures Begin

There is something really...alive...about sitting around a fire and sharing stories with your friends. It's quite a thing to watch sparks swirling up toward the stars, and think about the countless ages of other people who have sat in just the same way, doing the same thing.

I've always had a thing for a cheery fire, lighting up a little clearing in the woods.

I sketched and inked this one, thinking I would color and light it just like the others. (Note the direction I built up the strokes in the line-work). I quickly changed my mind, once color hit the page. It just felt like it needed to be at night, lit naturally from the fire. Happy I went that direction!
