Designing as Thinking

I studied industrial design in school and one skill I was taught was "sketching as thinking." We were encouraged to put markers to paper as a way to understand new concepts. I find myself doing that now as well. When I need to figure something out I sometimes just open up Figma and create something that will never be built but helps me think through the concept.
