Operate
Similar to the other illustrations in this ongoing series, I did this in the etching/scratchboard style I've been really loving. But first I pulled a bunch of reference of very old machinery and more modern guitar effects pedals. After mocking up a face plate in illustrator, I built a model of it in SketchUp so I could dial in the shadows and perspective for reference for the final drawing. The animation was all done in css on top of svgs.
