Crow Illustration

Illustration of a crow perched high up in a tree. For this wildlife study, I started out by sketching the pose of the crow and positioning on the branch. Next a base paint layer was applied to block out the values of the darker shades. The folds of the feathers were defined with shadows - and the fluffier areas were refined with lighter shades. From the original sketch, I enlarged the beak and eyes to add a more lifelike feel to the crow. As a finishing touch, softly-blurred pine trees were added to give ambient lighting, within an environment.
