White & Dark Christmas
Whether you’re a commercial caroller or a gloomy Grinch, My boyfriend and I curated a set of playlists to wish you and yours a Merry Christmas.
The White Christmas playlist is a set of popular songs to get you into the Festive Spirit in no time! Whereas the Dark Christmas playlist is perfect for a lonely, more introspective celebration.
For the artwork I really wanted to explore a musical mood that is totally recognizable, even if the subject matter is familiar.
The White Christmas cover art is based on the more commercial view of Rudolph The Red Nose Reindeer. I wanted to stick to a more fun, Christmas card kind of feel and portray Rudolph as the queer icon he was always meant to be 💁♂️
Rudolph’s horns are made up like a Christmas Tree, the North Star shining high above, Holly and Ivy creeping through, his nose drawn to resemble a kind of gemstone instead of the more traditional lightbulb.
The Dark Christmas cover art is more religious, almost as if Rudolph was worshipped as a Pagan deity. I went for a formal approach that verges on appearing like a cult, but a fashionable one 😉
Rudolph’s horns are dripping with candle wax, a nod to religious stained-glass with the angel ornament as a spotlight projecting a Christmas Tree, a wilder take on our savior Rudolph with black fur and red accents, more natural tones as if a fantasy beast was seen at a fancy gala, thorny brambles creep out from behind to symbolize punishment and consequence, a dry wreath hanging to symbolize promise and abundance.
Either way I hope you like it, listen to my playlists available on Spotify and Apple Music, simply follow this link: https://sorbetdraws.com/white-and-dark-christmas/
Have a very Merry Christmas, whoever you spend it with.
Stay safe ❤️
