SAKURA SZN

This is a part of a personal project titled GlobalType. I travel full time and love to photograph the places I'm in. Each place I visit I choose my favorite photo series and hand letter the name of the city, neighborhood, area, etc that inspires me most.

This photo was taken outside Shiba park overlooking the Sky Tree. This was taken at the beginning of April right as the cherry blossoms were starting to bloom. Or as it's most usually referred to, Sakura Season. Every time I look at this, I'm instantly in the mood for a Hanami and some Lawson fried chicken.

This was the first illustration I made for my GlobalType series. So I kept things relatively simple with a rough aesthetic and the illusion of a playful drop shadow. I want to get back to this point of looseness and freedom. Sometimes I can get bogged down with making each mark perfect and exact. But really the goal of this project is to be free and keep my design brain warm and practicing. I find my marks can get pretty stale and uninspired if I'm not consistently creating and trying new things.
