Daily UI #004 | Calculator
This is the prototype that I made for Day 4 of the Daily UI Challenge. It is meant to solve a few crucial financial problems amongst students these days. I’ve noticed that the canteen food at school is getting more expensive—and classmates are spending a lot on food without being aware of the total sum of expenses. The lack of awareness of their own spending now, might be the seed that will grow into a tall tree o’ financial problems later on in life. Also, recording expenses in physical books might be more dangerous since these artefacts are more likely to lose or become damaged.
To solve these problems and to prevent potential future financial disasters, I’ve designed this calculator. It’s a digital calculator with one simple task: to keep track of monthly expenses and store these records safely online. The user can manually enter their expenses and the calculator will add up to the total amount of money spent in given month.
I’ve chose for manual input because reason one: manually entering your expenses creates more awareness. And reason two: I’ve personally had bad experiences with automatic financial calculators since they would see the money I put in my savings account as expenses—which, obviously isn’t.
