Readability issue
BIOXIS — a big French pharmaceutical company — hired me to try redesigning their existing logo. Basicly they didn't want to change anything, but the customers had been often misreading the company name (SIOXIS, SIOXIC, IOXI, SIOXIG). Quite a challenge it was to preserve everything and make it more readable. I designed a dozen of logo concepts, these 2 were finalized, then the company management took a pause to think it all over. Recently I have found them to abandon their beautiful abstract logo and take a simple grotesque wording. Readability is crucial - at least you have to name that box in a drug store.
