Dayton, Ohio City Flag

Another month another flag. This one is my submission to the Dayton, Ohio city flag redesign project. They were very strict about colors and imagery. The symbolism is as follows:

1. A dark blue spinning propeller, a symbol of the aviation history.

2. 5 converging light blue stripes, symbolizing the 5 mayor converging waterways of Dayton (Great Miami River, Mad River, Stillwater River, Wolf Creek, and Twin Creek)

3. A green five-sided gemstone for Dayton's nickname "Gem City" which is a symbol of the cities resilience.

4. Within the gemstone are 5 equal segments positioned around a circle. These segments are a symbol of the diverse residents of Dayton. Each segment is distinct yet united together around the circle. The circle is a symbol of Dayton's future.
