Pre-Press Indesign Issues

I understand "true black" is not a thing for print. What bugs me is that the image to the right has a black border because the photo is film. So, when I try to proof the color of "Black" in InDesign against that photo, the photo's black comes in darker than InDesign's "Black", and it's killing me.

I've attached "What it is" and "What It's Supposed To Be".

Anyone have any ideas?
