Dog Shampoo Packaging
I aimed to tackle one of the other large growing industries that invests heavily in appealing packaging: pet products.
Bath time is often a chaotic ritual for pet owners with just saying the words often enough to send dogs running for cover. I created the fictional brand "Bath Time!" to represent this familiar feeling. I designed a friendly, but wide-eyed dog covered in suds and holding a bath brush to further tie into the humor of the brand.
For the style, I went with a simple, clean minimalist design for clarity and fun. For the dog, I chose a labrador retriever to model my design after as they are easily recognizable as the most popular breed in the U.S., known for their family-friendly nature.
After researching common dog shampoo brands, types and ingredients, I created three variations of the shampoo for different fur types: one for a shiny coat, one for a deep clean, and one for sensitive skin. I stressed an all-natural feel with recognizable ingredients of olive oil, oatmeal and aloe vera for greater consumer appeal.
I used the three distinct fur colors of labs, chocolate, black and white on the different labels for more diverse and friendly designs that played better with the bold colors and that would appeal to pet owners. I created a simple mockups of the labels on shampoo bottles for an idea of how they might look on the shelf.
