There Will Be Blood - Reverse Storyboarding
Lately, I've been "reverse storyboarding." I sit and watch a film, and while I'm watching, I storyboard the scenes, quickly blocking out rough compositions. It's a good exercise in staying loose, and it makes you acutely aware of choices that the Director and D.P. have made while filming.
Last night I reverse storyboarded "There Will Be Blood." Here's the scene where the oil derrick catches fire. Drawn with PrismaColor grey markers on basic printer paper. This sketch took about 15 seconds.
