Plan Your Day in Belmont Village, Kitchener

This design is based on a pilot project for the Waterloo Region Small Business Centre. The centre supports 9 business improvement areas across the region, each with their own unique style and businesses. We would like to build a "day planner" the helps visitors explore the surrounding area and encourages them to support local businesses and #shoplocal.

Belmont Village is a unique streetscape straddling Kitchener and Waterloo, home to a number of high-end eateries, retail stores and services. Belmont is adjacent to the Catalyst137 innovation hub and the Iron Horse Trail, providing pedestrian access from both Uptown Waterloo and Downtown Kitchener within a 25 minute walk.

As a contractor to the Small Business Centre, I provide hands-on support for helping small business go digital and suggestions for digital initiatives that can support the community. Winning this contest would help me transition to full-time freelance work and support my family.

The Waterloo Region spans almost a dozen communities from Canada's high tech hubs surrounding the universities, startup innovation ecosystem and tech offices to rural communities that showcase the simpler lifestyle of the Mennonite community. The Waterloo Region Small Business Centre supports 9 business improvement areas in the region: Elmira, St. Jacobs, Uptown Waterloo, Belmont Village, Downtown Kitchener, New Hamburg, Preston Towne Centre, Hespeler and Galt.
