Whistler

Introduction
Each year, The Resort Municipality of Whistler puts a call out for local designers and illustrators to create unique banners for the street posts in and around Whistler Village to be enjoyed by the 10,447 permanent residents and 2.7 million annual visitors. The banners are changed every six months to reflect the changing seasons, and once the banners are retired, they are re-purposed into reusable bags, breathing new life into the artwork while also reducing our dependence on plastic bags.

The Ask
The Resort Municipality of Whistler puts an annual request for designers to create street banners for their village, with the idea of supporting local artists in the community and brightening up their locale. Weight Creative was selected not just once, but two years in a row for this privilege.

The Solution
The first years' designs focused on the natural landscapes of the village and mountain area, with emphasis on smooth bright colors and leisure activities. For the second year, we changed the design direction to be much more bold and simplified, with exciting action scenes taking place in the winter.
