Cool Spring Downtown District

Introduction
The downtown core of Fayetteville, North Carolina is the product of a revitalization program that began in the early 90s and continues on today. Previously downtrodden, the changing face of the downtown core has been uplifted with additions like the North Carolina Veterans Park, the Airborne & Special Operations Museum, the yearly award-winning Dogwood Festival and much more – all of which have lent the downtown core to be a great attraction for the city of over 200,000.

The Ask
Though the various economic development and revitalization projects have done a great job revitalizing the downtown core, the area had yet to completely shed the negative public image that used to be associated with it. After completing a successful rebrand that had the area dubbed ‘Cool Spring’ – the district then needed a plan to build a strong web presence that would build engagement with the community to attract both local families and tourists alike. Their existing website was small, incomplete and broken, but Cool Spring had a goal of creating a web presence that would entice new visitors and show all the fantastic family-friendly spaces, events, and specialty shops the area has to offer.

The Solution
Weight Creative collaborated with Cool Spring Downtown District to first uncover unaddressed needs facing the area. The website features an interactive map highlighting and promoting all businesses listed in their directory, robust community events calendar for locals to stay up-to-date, an easy to use form builder for staff and strategic ‘funnels’ throughout the site to push users to commonly requested information. New businesses can also submit their listings to the business directory through an automated form, to be moderated and approved at Cool Spring’s convenience.
