Urban Fruit Harvest – App Concept
This is inspired by the fruit trees along the streets of Seattle 🍎 We have figs, apples, plums, blueberries, blackberries, pears, and even KIWI berries! All in my neighborhood.
This season, I’ve seen so much fruit in the city go unharvested because there’s not a lot of public information out there — what, where, and when you can pick 🌳 Every time I go for a run, I mark on a map where I find fruit trees and bushels so I can come back with a bucket and a friend to gather the fruit when it’s ready.
When @AdobeXD, @Patriciareiners, and I decided to run a prototype competition inspired by where you live, I wanted to play around with this idea and prototype an urban fruit harvesting concept. This app features a crowdsourced map of fruit trees in the city so anyone can plan a harvest route and take advantage of fresh fruit available right in their backyards. No more smashed sidewalk apples 🌚
