ATP Mobile App : Players Section - Filters (Modal)

I was able to identify that the filtering system of the existing website and competitive online outlets are “broken”. The fields appear to be selected randomly and modeled after those used in other sports (mainly baseball and soccer). I wanted to streamline the component, eliminating unnecessary fields and focusing on the information universally found and easily within each profile. (the ‘Favorite Players only” quick filter was excluded from this section because it was conditional upon user selection).

Main Conflicts:
- Finding a solution that worked seamlessly across each sub navigation section. Providing the user with the least amount of “dead ends” as possible.
- Finding the best solution for sorting 159 possible country results.

User Testing Findings:
- Users searched for players name first, ranking second, and country third.
- Users were able to complete tasks substantially quicker when deprived of extra information to understand before making a decision.
- Depriving the user of a dropdown to select the sought after country didn’t trip them up
- Adding a way to phonically search for a country the user may not be able to spell would be a good addition in future iterations.
