We Can Do It! Okoye

After watching Black Panther, I was so impressed with the style and quality of the film but my favorite part of the movie was the strong female characters. From Okoye to Shuri to Nakia and Queen Ramonda. I was inspired to make this t-shirt design.

I started by looking at a bunch of different pictures of different angles of Okoye's costume. Then I drew a very basic version of my design on paper (I could've drawn it using my tablet and illustrator-- I just draw better using paper!) I scanned it in and then started choosing complementary colors and filling out my design.

The hardest part of this design was the beaded middle section. Something about the angle of it and the intricate design made it difficult. After lots and lots of tries, I created a design that is simple enough but definitely reminiscent of the real design that Okoye has in the movie.
