Hold to Deactivate Button
Deleting non-recoverable data is an important UX problem to account for. We want to give our customers autonomy in our Dashboard to completely manage their devices, and this includes functionality to permanently deactivate SIM cards.
One consideration is putting enough friction in front of a destructive action that necessitates understanding of one’s action and intent to do so without being annoying and approaching dark pattern territory.
We designed this custom click-and-hold button interaction as part of our SIM Deactivation UX (more on that in Quintin’s shot). This sits in tandem to a “type this phrase to delete” input field that’s becoming more common in web services that contain sensitive data. All of these elements work together to make accidental deactivations really hard and intentional deactivations carry the weight they need.
