The Redesign Cycle

I recently joined @headout - given the design debt & β€œquick asap request” it was obvious we needed a redesign. But I realised that point of view suffers from survivorship bias- only live designs have bugs!

In fact the design has been working for a silent majority of customers for years even with the design debt - so it was robust.

It would have been crazy to throw away the existing design without learning what it had to teach us-that would also be very risky for the business.

We used traditional UX tools (but changed them to fit our iterative & agile methodology) and I took notes and documented the process, thinking and mistakes.
