Field Studies Presentation Slides
I presented on the benefits of field research for work.
When approaching the design of the slides, I wanted to highlight the concepts I shared in my presentation using vector people from humaaans.com.
I took what was there and then customized the vectors to illustrate the principles of contextual inquiry.
In the book, "Understanding Comics" there is a principle that the less realistic and abstract the illustrated character is, the easier it is for the reader to put themselves in the shoes of the character. If I used photos of real research trips, it would make it harder to resonate with the audience because it forces them to imagine themselves in a real scenario, not a concept. That's why the best comics avoid photorealism.
I wanted to leverage that principle of abstract illustration to allow my audience to picture themselves doing this kind of research work. Which I hypothesize will increase the impact of the talk and lead to more field research work! #vector #abstract
