Dubai Clock Tower 1963

Dubai’s Clock Tower became Dubai’s first internationally known icon. The Clock Tower has survived over 50 years of Dubai’s development and yet was built only to solve a problem with an unexpected Gift Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum received from his son-in-law.

The Clock Tower is located in Deira and was built in 1963. It stands at the gateway of Maktoum Bridge, which was the first permanent structure to straddle Dubai Creek, providing a vital link between Bur Dubai and Deira.
