"When you think of home" poster
Column Five contacted illustrators and designers from all over the world to create a poster that depicts what home means to the individual artist. 50% of the proceeds will be donated to Acres of Love, which is a non-profit on a mission to create group homes for children orphaned as a result of the HIV-AIDS pandemic. You can purchase a poster at www.whenyouthinkofhome.com.
Here's my excerpt from the site:
"Throughout my childhood, I borrowed countless library books on San Francisco Victorian architecture. No matter how much I begged to see the buildings from my books in person, my family couldn't afford to drive eight hours north from Los Angeles. Finally as an adult, I was able to save enough to take my family. I told my mother on that trip that I would do whatever it took to live in San Francisco. After a few years of struggling, I did move to the City by the Bay, and the buildings that I obsessed over as a child are right outside my window."
