wireframe experience design (House Pet Adoption Experience)
Before I started to design the experience process, I have to know what the problem is. So I began with online research to get more information about the topic and gather the information resources for my initial thought. Based on my research, I found out the data telling that most of the animals available in Indonesia have experienced terrible past. Most of them are undesirable and unwanted. They don’t have adopter and home. They live on the streets and must find food and shelter where they can. Moreover when they sick, many are left to die without any veterinary assistance. According to data from DKI Jakarta Maritime and Agriculture Food Security Service in 2018, there are approximately 30.000 cats and 70.000 dogs are available in Jakarta’s shelters which need to be adopted. The number of those pets could be reduced dramatically if more people adopted pets instead of buying them. Along that way, the situation should be set out with a solution.
I have decided to focus on reducing the number of dogs and cats in the shelter by designing the flow scale of pet adoption in mobile apps. The purpose is to facilitate people in finding a matched pet by the nearby location.
Right after I research the topic, some questions came up on my mind. It matters for the flow of the experience design that I’d like to work on. These are about:
What the right process of adopting a pet? What kinds of pet people tend to adopt?
For the questions above, I decided to find all the answers from comparing the other sites and apps to get the data. I looked at some adoption sites such as Jakarta Animal Aid, Animal Rescue, and Adoption Center, AdoptAPet. Homeoanimal.com, etc.
First, from the sites I mentioned, the process needs to be shortened and efficient to use. They need to fill out the form and validate it with much money to be transferred as the dealing process to the shelters. Besides, the problem is not all shelters provide a complete database pet, so it will complicate the user to consider which pet they choose. The solution to my design experience is to facilitate it as simple as possible. By matching process, which would be look-alike date apps, like Tinder, we’ll find the solution for this process. The value of this project should stretch on saving the life of the animal and reducing the number of the animal shop by facilitating the users. This might work for the solution because the vision of this app should be on raising the value of loving pet as our friend and find them a home. And also, I want to raise awareness of adopting is such a better way instead of shopping animal.
Second, the people who tend to adopt a pet are required with their job and lifestyle. I can use this data for my potential user mapping process. I plan to make it match with the kind of pet and lifestyle of the adopter. Most eligible criteria of this matter are about their age (should be at least 18 years old) and their home (should live in a property that permits pets and nearby). This is the requirement for a potential adopter. This might work for the solution because by their age we can classify the most fitting match pet as a recommendation, also by the location, we can easily meet and pick up the pet.
Before working on the experience design, I should have done these metrics of Information Architecture on my work. The process will be:
Research – Conception phase – Design
Should you have any feedback or suggestion to make my improvement, I'd be very glad to hear from you. Thank you.
