Send Interaction

Microinteractions are delightful and can improve user experience if used right. However, I feel like there’s a tendency nowadays for designers to overuse them just because they look cool.

This test I did for the interaction of sending a comment and the subsequent loading and publishing of that comment is an example of that. It looks flashy, but it takes a lot more effort to implement and does exactly the same a simple spinner would have done as well—especially considering that sending a comment ideally should never take so long that it warrants a 5 second animation.
