Daily UI #014 - Countdown Timer

For today’s challenge, I wanted to try designing an interface for an Apple Watch. I also wanted to learn how to make a countdown timer in After Effects using expressions, which was surprisingly much harder than I anticipated.

First, I checked out the UI guidelines for the Apple Watch. I have never designed for one before so it was interesting to take a deeper dive into the product from a design standpoint.

Second, I tracked down different AE tutorials on Youtube to figure out how to make the timer countdown with milliseconds, so the GIF is more dynamic. Learning how to use expressions was very interesting, I honestly didn’t know how many things you can accomplish. I just barely scraped the surface with this project, but I look forward to exploring Expressions more in the future.
