Gene's Po-Boys
Gene’s Po-Boys. 1040 Elysian Fields Avenue, New Orleans, Louisiana. Founded in 1968 by Eugene “Gene” Raymond Theriot. Closed August 4, 2019.
Gene’s Po-Boys served generations of New Orleanians and tourists, including Homer Simpson, delicious po-boys and daiquiris (though that side was sold and closed in 2018.) The iconic pink paint job on the building was “accidentally” done by a Hubig’s Pie worker who offered up his painting skills while on a 10-day vacation - the requested color was actually mauve.
Gene’s was open all 24 hours of the day.
