Daily UI #012 - E-Commerce Shop (Single Item)

Daily UI #012 - E-Commerce Shop (Single Item)

Initial Thoughts: I thought today’s challenge was a good opportunity to go back to the Shaper brand/product that I had previously been developing. After sketching and brainstorming, the e-commerce item that I came up with was hiring a Life Coach.

Design: I borrowed hints of aesthetics from the first few challenges. However, I felt the past designs were a bit too heavy on the deep purple. I wanted there to be more balanced between the lightness and the darkness, similar to the concept of Yin and Yang.

On the first screen, the User will see a block of Life Coach profiles that can be hired. The first matches seen are determined by the location of the user, which is sourced from the metadata of their Shaper profile. They can then filter the results to find a more well-suited candidate, or just start scrolling to view profiles. The cards have a quick highlight of the coach plus a flattering photo. Ideally, the photos would be curated by designers for Shaper, to ensure higher click through rates.

The second screen highlights the profile of the Coach. Here the User could read a more in-depth bio as well as check the Coach’s specialties, issues they cover, age ranges covered, philosophies, and contact information. This is where the User would also be able to make a purchase and hire the Coach, which would take place on a separate screen. I didn’t create that experience in this shot, but the concept would be that the User could figure out scheduling with an interactive calendar, then make a purchase.

One more abstract idea that I haven’t fully fleshed out yet, is that Shaper would be largely based on user scores. User scores would be determined by how active the user is in the community and they would be able to increase their scores by completing achievements, helping other users, completing daily challenges, hosting events, and more. Once a user reached a certain level they could become a life coach and start making actual money off the Shaper app, similar to a rideshare or a delivery service business model. This would incentivize users to spend more time on the App to increase their score, which would generate more passive income through ads and merchandise/products being sold.

Takeaway: For this piece, I had a lot of extra ideas I wanted to implement, but I didn’t have enough time to build them out fully. I would like to come back to this challenge and develop my ideas further.
