There are about 11-million household addresses in South
Africa. More than half of all households do not have a formal
address. The reason is that most people live in rural areas or in informal settlements. So, how do you address the unaddressed? Meet Map.me, a local start-up is giving every South African the opportunity to have a physical address, in particular, to be able to obtain a proof of address mainly for banking purposes, so that everyone in South African can take part in the economy.
